Using Creative Arts In Facilitation
This training is for you!
Creative Faciliation 1 is for those who work with groups of youth or adults, as well as for people who simply want to enhance their own creativity. Whether you are new to facilitation or have years of experience, at this training you will experience the power of the Creative Empowerment facilitation firsthand.
Working with groups is by definition a creative adventure and the arts can be your greatest ally. In this professional development training you will gain a framework for using arts-based practices to strengthen your effectiveness as a facilitator.
You will gain a toolbox of easy-to-lead activities designed to bring confidence and creativity to your role as a facilitator for groups of all sizes, as well as a strong sense of what it feels like to have the arts as an ally as you design and lead transformative learning events.
Develop basic skills in using multiple art forms to facilitate groups of all sizes.
Learn strategies for engaging all learning styles and bringing out the strengths of group members.
Gain confidence in your own creativity; you don’t have to be a professional artist to use the arts.
Learn ways to use the arts to enliven learning, deepen reflection, create joy, and develop social & emotional skills.
Acquire a toolbox of easy-to-lead activities based on storytelling, creative writing, visual arts, music, drama, & movement.
Learn ways to create safe environments for creative exploration and participant retention.
Participation Requirements
- Review the Online Training Guide for technical requirements and Zoom Tips
- Bring a pen or pencil, and oil pastels, crayons, or markers.
- Participate from a quiet and distraction free space with a bit of room to move around.
- A few pieces of paper (or a journal) and a couple sheets of large drawing paper (18″X22″ is a good size). If these aren’t accessible to you, tape smaller sheets of paper together.
- Optional: Musical instruments, costumes, scarves…
- Join 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to get oriented.
- Participation in both days of the training is required.
Fees and Scholarship
Sliding Scale – $500/375/250 USD
Workshop Fees
Partners for Youth Empowerment employs a SLIDING SCALE as a tool to promote economic justice and provide access to all. We invite you to self select your registration fee using our Sliding Scale as a guide. Based on where you fall on the sliding scale, you are welcome to choose the rate that works best for you. Be sure to review the Refund and Payment Policy.
Scholarship & Grants
If you need additional financial support in order to participate due to your personal situation or to the inequalities of the exchange rate to the US dollar, submit an application to our Scholarship Program. If you apply for a scholarship, you will be contacted when a space becomes available. Please note that we may not be able to get you into the training date of your choice.

Melanie SchambachLondon, ON, CanadaMelanie (Colombia, Guatemala, Canada) is a social artist known for her participatory mobile murals. She invites individuals, communities, and institutions to work together on specific social issues by creating public art through collaboratively participatory formats. With a BFA in visual arts and other trainings in arts therapeutics, she has engaged more than 1500 people in creating mobile murals, and facilitated more than 1000 workshops on creativity, belonging and self-discovery to diverse populations.

Stephanie TurnerLondon, UKStephanie is an interdisciplinary artist, performer and Creative Empowerment facilitator. She has over 10 years experience facilitating in a variety of settings in London, across the UK and internationally. The focus of her work is on youth engagement particularly with minority groups. She is currently project coordinator for Amy’s Yard at the Amy Winehouse Foundation, where she supports 16 emerging artists through a robust program of artistic development. She recently designed and delivered “Skip to the Beat” a new 12-week program for the Young Urban Arts Foundation that targets young people suffering with an array of mental health challenges to support them to manage and improve their mental well being.
