Leading Powerful Online Programs – Basic | February 20-21
Build Your Basic Zoom Facilitation Toolkit
This 6-hour workshop will prepare you with basic Zoom tools and activities to create the same lasting impact with your online groups as you do in your in-person programs. Designed especially for people who are newer to using zoom or facilitating online, we will show you how to leverage Zoom to facilitate programs that deliver a deep, interactive, and connected learning experience. You’ll learn tools you can use in any online program, regardless of the content, format, or audience.
This workshop will give you a taste of the possibilities inherent in creative online facilitation including tools that help with participant accessibility and engagement. Working with these tools takes practice and this workshop will get you started!
Zoom Tools
Practice Zoom basics such as ‘raise hand,’ and ‘view options,’ as well as more advanced tools such as sharing audio and slides effectively, using spotlight and pin features, and setting up breakout rooms.
Participant Engagement
Gain a toolbox of easy-to-lead low risk activities that build a sense of community among participants and help bring even the shyest participants out of their shells.
WORKSHOP GOALS
- Experience how to build community and connection through creative processes.
- Gain a toolbox of 15 virtual activities that promote group cohesion.
- Maximize collaboration using whiteboards, annotation, Google Jamboard and Slides.
- Unlock the surprising potential of breakout rooms.
- Share slides, video and music seamlessly.
- Learn ways to engage even your quietest participants.
- Explore ways to make your online activities more accessible for your participants.
- Highlight speakers and online group presentations.
- Troubleshoot tech challenges with fellow learners.
NOTE: This training is similar in content to that of our former “How to Lead Engaging and Interactive Programs Online” training. It teaches a few less tools, but offers more time for practice.
Participation Requirements
- Review the Online Training Guide for technical requirements and Zoom Tips
- Bring a few pieces of paper (or a journal), and a pen or pencil.
- Participate from a quiet and distraction free space with a bit of room to move around.
- Join 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to get oriented.
Fees and Scholarship
Sliding Scale – $125/200/275 USD
Workshop Fees
Partners for Youth Empowerment employs a SLIDING SCALE as a tool to promote economic justice and provide access to all. We invite you to self select your registration fee using our Sliding Scale as a guide. Based on where you fall on the sliding scale, you are welcome to choose the rate that works best for you. If you need additional financial support in order to participate due to your personal situation or to the inequalities of the exchange rate to the US dollar, submit an application to our Scholarship Program. If you apply for a scholarship, you will be contacted when a space becomes available. Please note that we may not be able to get you into the training date of your choice.

Devon LittleSeattle, WA, USADevon works as a facilitator, trainer and mediator guided by the values of community, social justice and dignity. She has designed, facilitated, and managed experiential-learning programs for numerous organizations in the US and abroad. She works with groups and teams and also offers training and consultation for educators, team leaders, and other social service professionals. Devon currently consulting for schools and orgs around Restorative Justice, creative engagement, and community culture. Devon holds a BA in Sociology and a Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work. Her long-time studies in the arts inspire her to use artistic mediums to help participants cultivate personal awareness, effective communication, and leadership skills.

Silvia is a Rio de Janeiro-based creative facilitator, yoga teacher, and movement practitioner specializing in helping people and organizations access more creativity and wellbeing through embodied practices that draw upon the full range of our body’s intelligence. She is a senior facilitator for PYE where she has led workshops, trainings, and conferences around the globe with a diverse range of organizations. Silvia is the founder of www.movinginto.co/.
