Maurits Schouten is a philanthopist and social impact investor who is passionate about helping social enterprises achieve their mission. He started his investment banking career in 1985 at ABN Amro in Amsterdam and moved to London in 1991 where he worked for Credit Suisse and Barclays as a Managing Director. After 23 years he left banking to focus on philanthropy and investing for his own account. He is a member of the Ashoka Support Network and In 2017 he co-founded Blue Parasol Investments to build a social impact investment portfolio. Maurits is married with two children and lives in Amsterdam. He has a PhD in economics from the University of Amsterdam.
